a ton of books from my boyfriend, who as usual got me every single one I listed instead of choosing just one or two, like I intended. next year I'm only going to tell him one book.

gift cards to macy's, borders, and kohls.

usual gifts of clothing and jewelry, plus two purses.

"no admittance except on party business" LOTR bookends by sideshow.

a my little pony from my mother..no idea why she got me that, but it's cute.

the world's ugliest scarf from my boyfriend's aunt. seriously. this thing is really fucking ugly. I'm never going to wear it.

floor mats for my car from my boyfriend's parents, and another scarf, which is luckily not ugly.

a car charger/player for my ipod.

    the bookends:

    bookends3

    bookends4

    bookend

    and the scarf:

    uglyscarfd

the scarf is made of that really fuzzy "eyelash" yarn. and it sheds everywhere, all the time. it looks worse in person..the color combination is puke green, aqua, beige, and black. the puke green is especially horrible.

Adam told me a funny story about when he went to get the bookends. he bought them from the Borders that's right across the street from where I work. Now, those bookends have been there forever, sitting in their box on the floor of the fantasy section. I've been eyeing them for god knows how long.

So Adam grabbed them and went up to the register. when the cashier picked up the box, it came apart in his hands at the seams..apparently it'd been handled so many times by customers picking it up and looking at it that all of the cardboard tabs had become somewhat worse for wear. Adam thought "I'll play this for what it's worth", got a distressed look on his face, and said "oh no! those were for my girlfriend for christmas! she loves lord of the rings..I can't give them to her in a broken box! do you have any more? I've been working so much lately that this is the first and only time I'll be able to go christmas shopping for her..and I don't know where else I could get those bookends...she'll be so disappointed!"

so the cashier, feeling bad, knocked 35% off the price of the bookends. Adam took them home, got out the packing tape, and taped up the box so you couldn't even tell it'd come apart.
